Kyle DonahueHead Coach
Kyle Donahue '14 concluded his first season as Head Coach of the Patriots, and sixth season overall, in 2024. During his first season, the Patriots finished 4-6 overall and 0-5 in Inter-Ac League play.
Under Donahue, the GA offense has soared to new heights. Since his return to Fort Washington in 2018, the school’s single season passing yardage record has been broken three times, most recently in 2023 by Xavier Stearn ’26. During the same season, AJ Towsen ’25 set records for catches, receiving yards, and touchdowns. In 2021, Donahue helped scheme the third-best single-season rushing performance in GA history, and the 2019 team set records for points scored in a single season with 338.
Donahue starred for Germantown Academy as a wide receiver from 2010-13. He was named Second Team All-Inter-Ac as a junior before earning First Team honors as a senior captain. Donahue graduated from Dickinson College, where he majored in Educational Studies and was a four-year varsity football letterwinner. He returned to GA as a member of the coaching staff in 2018 and took over as the offensive play caller and coordinator in 2019. He began teaching in the Physical Education department before moving to teach history. Donahue earned his Master’s in Education from Arcadia University in 2020.

Joe MigliareseManager, Fitness and Performance
Joe Migliarese joined Germantown Academy in September 2018 as part of GA's partnership with NovaCare Rehabilitation. Migliarese is currently the Manager of Fitness and Performance where he supports GA student-athletes every day in their journey to reaching their full potential.
Prior to joining GA, "Coach Migs" coached at Appalachian State University and Penn State University where he helped guide hundreds of student-athletes, both mentally and physically, to better prepare for games and life after sports. A local product of La Salle College High School, Migliarese played Division I football the University of Rhode Island where he earned a degree in Kinesiology. He also has a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association certificate and Reflexive Performance Reset certificate. Migliarese also spent time in the NFL.
Both Migliarese's knowledge and background has led him to a deep and unmatched understand of athletic preparation. He is very focused on all aspects of athletic development: performance, recovery, mindset, and nutrition.
Facility
Carey Stadium (300 Morris Road, Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, 19034) is home to GA football. It was opened in 2010 as a multi-sport facility that includes a 200 x 380’ artificial turf field, a regulation track surface with six lanes, high jump area, long jump pit and easy on-and-off sideline access. The turf was replaced in the summer of 2022. Lines are drawn on the field for football, soccer and lacrosse. The bleacher seating can accommodate 850 spectators and are handicap accessible. Carey Stadium also houses a concession stand equipped with electrical, an ice machine and a reach-in cooler; restroom facilities, as well as two team gathering rooms, private referee room and a trainer’s room equipped with sink, ice machine and treatment bed. The scoreboard in the corner of the Stadium is a multi-sport unit that displays the game clock, home and away scores, time outs left, quarter and football-related information. There is a sound system that is operated from the top of the Stadium where there is a 10-seat granite-topped work area with several electrical outlets and jacks for the microphone and music; all protected by an awning. The Stadium speakers are located on top of the scoreboard. There are several handicap parking spaces adjacent to the entrance to the Stadium in addition to more than 200 spaces spread between two parking lots for the outdoor athletics complex. More parking is available on the GA campus by crossing the Wissahickon Creek by car and returning by foot on the brick pathway. Germantown Academy has hosted many lacrosse and soccer tournaments and was the home to the first coed Inter-Academic Athletic League Track and Field Championships in 2012.

The fall sports season at Germantown Academy may have come to a close, but the achievements of its student-athletes continue to shine. The Inter-Ac League celebrated their exceptional performances by announcing the All-League Teams, recognizing those who stood out throughout the season.

The first points of the 2024 GA/PC rivalry was won three days before the actual day's events as the GA golf team tied Penn Charter, 4-4, and each team entered the day with a half-point. On the 138th GA/PC Day, the Patriots were unable to win back the coveted Competition Cup, falling to PC, 8-2.

The junior entered the game needing just 60 yards to break McCloskey’s mark of 3,891 yards and did so on the team’s second drive. Stearn finished the day 19 of 27 passing for 221 yards and two touchdowns.

Germantown Academy junior Xavier Stearn is considered among the top quarterbacks in the area, and he showed why during the Patriots 40-26 loss at the Haverford School.

As if Germantown Academy quarterback Xavier Stearn wasn’t enough of a challenge for opponents, the 6-foot-6 junior with the rocket right arm added another element to his arsenal. Stearn, who set two school records last year, finished with five touchdown passes in a 49-26 victory against Father Judge on Sept. 6.
